--------------------------------------------------------- SF Raves Hyperreal Rave Interface 1.0 Beta FAQ --------------------------------------------------------- Q: What is the SF-Raves Hyperreal Rave Interface? A: The SF-Raves Hyperreal Rave Interface, or SFRaves Calendar is a redesigned and automated Event Calendar based on Starrave, a project founded by Ed Colmar, and developed in conjunction with other contributers. Starrave is a Zope application that uses a mySQL back-end database, and is programmed primarily in Python and DHTML. The Starrave interface has improved the calendar display, functionality, and usability. Now users can connect with other people, groups and events in the SFRaves Community through a streamlined architecture. The redesigned SFR Calendar also serves data pertaining to event Listings, locations, DJ Schedules, promotions, collectives, and related information. The interface is automated, and empowers the promoter, end-user, party and music enthusiast alike to interact as part of the SFRaves Community. The design is simple, easy to use, and well supported. Q: Why? A: The SFRaves Calendar has long been planned for redesign, to improve functionality and better serve the SFRaves Community. The old SFRaves interface used a manual process which was updated by by hand. To streamline the process for adding events and to improve the calendar interface and functionality, the calendar has been redesigned. The resulting application innovates the process of publication and listing of events. The new interface also incoporates improved functionality and usability of the interface for the SFRaves community. The new system optimizes and shortens the process for entering and modifying information. It gives promoters access to add, post and modify their own events. Upon adding, the event is sent to an administrator for review, and then upon approval is published to the SFRaves.org site. Overall, it's a short process, that does not require an extremely high amount of time from one person. Q: Where do I start?
